My brother is a big fan of the great outdoors and likes to embrace this passion whenever and wherever possible. Recently he's been enjoying some wild swimming - this is a sketch of his view from Blea tarn in the Langdales.
Cheeky twins
I've been very distracted with other projects recently that I haven't had much time for sketching, and I've definitely missed it!
Fox’s Pulpit
On Firbank Fell, there is this place called Fox's pulpit - we came here as kids and climbed all over it! Such a great place.
Another favourite fell
This is Dodd Fell. Growing up we would camp at a place called Scarness near Bassenthwaite, in the summer half term, with a big group of families and friends from the North-West. This was the family friendly walk we would often do on the Saturday, with such stunning views from the top, and many snacks to keep us going!
An evening walk out
One of my favourite places to walk. I've been here so many times in my life but the view never gets old.
Easter break
We spent some time away over the Easter break which meant not a lot of creating happened! I did however get the privilege of working on this sketch of the Langdales - a commission for a birthday present
Sleeping beauty
I know I've done it before, but its just so sweet when they fall asleep on me and it happens so infrequently now. This time he even passed on lunch in favour of sleeping in my arms.
Springtime!
We're finally starting to play back outside without crying from cold within 10 minutes! We didn't even wear coats, though some of the dressing skills need honing...
International Women's Day
These girls mean the world to me.
A thinking day!
I've been battling with a failing computer these last few weeks, so someone wisely suggested I use these days for "bigger picture" thinking. I've spent a very enjoyable day with Ruth Atkinson Photography preparing for some exciting times ahead...
Growing so independent and helpful...
...some days, other days he just stands next to the gate waiting for me to open it! Also, he was really specific about the trousers he wore on this day, the were so bright, but they cheered me every time I saw him.
Adding a little colour...
He's got so used to me drawing him whilst he plays, but he actually sat and posed for this one!
One of my little bookworms
So often I find him sitting in a corner "reading" to himself.
Our new year's walk
We didn't make it over to the Lakes this year but in previous years we have cultivated a love of warm damson gin on this fell. Our New year's day walk on Gummers How.
Happy New Year
I played a little round of guess the fells with my family over Christmas. I was so relieved they could identify them! This is where my dad, brother and husband have entered fell races over the years and the first fell my sister walked (and got lost on) with her husband - Wansfell.
Happy Christmas
I was terrified the first time I walked up here! I think it's one of my brother's favourites though. I hope you have a Happy Christmas.
Something a little different
Just a little try at some mountains. This is where I grew, and as much as I love being near the sea, I do miss the mountains.
Just a quick one
Drawing quickly before they move - my latest challenge!
The coffee-book shop, take 2
From a few weeks back when we dragged Daddy to the bookshop too.
The coffee-book shop
Our weekly trip here was very relaxed this week, I even managed to sneak in a couple of sketches whilst they drank their "coffee"!
